Is [TIG] gone for good?

Comments

I agree. I hate it. I'm rather ticked off right now! What was wrong with the previous design? Nothing!
Ack! Now's its all "Culture on vox" and other things. Hmmm -- i sort of liked the implicit value-judgement of [tig].
I'm a creature of habit, but having been here through many changes, I'm sure I'll get used to the new design and find everything I'm looking for eventually. I am frustrated with it right now. It seems I have to do a lot more page surfing to find what I'm looking for, instead of having it all on one page. Recent comments are on a different page than recent posts. But I'm mostly bummed about losing [TIG]. I guess it's easier to have different categories (culture, entertainment, technology, etc) now that Vox has grown, but I'll always remember [TIG].
Ok, I figured out that when you are on your own blog, click on VoxWatch to find the most recent photos, posts, comments, etc in your neighborhood.
I do not like the new format, at all.

Blech.

I don't like this new design at all. Yuck. I want to see people's recent comments more easily.

LAME, Vox. LAME.

Agrees! I am LOST! I don't know how to work this! Put my HOME back!!!!
Sheesh. If I wanted culture, I'd go to the opera or something. I blog for fun. **rolls eyes**
Sigh, I just read the team vox page, it's gone. I don't know, there was just something that made me feel good if I logged onto Vox and saw one of my neighbors made the [TIG]. It's not that same if you made one of 6 different categories, and not even the first one that pops up. I'm highly unlikely to scroll through all that stuff just for fun of it.
i liked the old design better... that's for sure. i even said that when i filled out the beta survey :(

Mello - best comment ever.
Hey! I resemble that remark..I got on the culture page..Pffttt :P.

I don't know what's going on, I just got home but I do know that I liked the comment thing better before, when you could hit the Vox button and see when someone commented on your comment. Like today when you commented on my comment on Steve's page...I left comments all over today and we have half the same neighborhood, it could have been anywhere! Now I've got to read them in email format and that isn't Vox, which is where I want to read them.

Off to check what else has changed.....

Im not impressed either. I hate it when I figure out what I like about the new system and then they change it.
Well, not to be a gloom and doom, but usually when companies start changing things like Vox has, I think it is a bad sign. It was probably done because things aren't going as well as they (SixApart) hoped. Then, someone payed way too much blames the design of the site and decides it needs to be "easier" to use. They redisign the site to be more "attractive", but in the process, alienate people. Maybe they get a few new people to sign up for Vox, but they also have people leave and never come back because they are sick of things changing. Then, someone notices people are leaving and decides another change is needed...and the cycle continues.

Think about how many times we've seen redesigns of Vox. Now, think how many times you've seen sites like Amazon, MySpace, Google, Ebay, and YouTube change things around. Those sites find other ways to draw in new users without ticking off their core audience.
I thought it was only us older folks that didn't do well with change. ;o)
I agree. I liked the simplicity of the old TIG. Since it only highlighted 4 posts or so, it was a pretty cool deal to see one of your neighbors up there. And I liked the simplicity of use of the old design. It was intuitive. This new design is not intuitive, which means I spend (waste) a lot of time trying to figure out how to find my way. Boo- hoo. :-(
