OK, I confess my ignorance. What is menudo? I only know it as a Puerto Rican singing group (sigh.......Ricky Martin......)
While spending time with Juanita looks like it might be fun --- I'm steering clear of intestine-containing foods, if that's ok....
Okay, that just doesn't look right. At all.
Gary and I saw it when we were out doing our "Sunday Dinner" shopping. We decided to bypass the "Menudo". It just cracked us up. We bought stuff to make chili instead. Glad we did now that Steve B. has informed us it is made out of some sort of intestines. It seems that wasn't advertised too clearly on the can.
Um, yeah. Menudo means "a little bit of everything." I think I'll pass on the everything. Steve Betz and I agree on this one.
My husband - for some odd reason - loves this stuff! No intestines for me.
I am a fan of menudo (the dish, not the band)! Nothing like fresh menudo on a Saturday morning at the local mexican restaruant! They usually only make it for Saturday. Fresh spices, hot sauce, hominy, onions, pepper, and of course tripe (intestine). I guess I enjoy it because I had all the time growing up in SoCal! Maybe I'll have it next Saturday.....of course you all know the golden rule, can't knock it until you've tried it!
Sounds like hot dogs...the exact ingredients are best left a mystery.
I am a menudo girl. My family is of Mexican heritage. We do not have it often, but this is good stuff. I think my family held off telling me what it was for a while. We also ate beef tongue, but I drew the line at eating anything when they cooked the whole cows head.
I had never heard of it til I happened upon it in the grocery store on Sunday. I'm usually a pretty fearless eater, but I don't think I'll be trying this now that I know what is in there!
