It's the little things

Ok, so I missed things on Tuesday, but I'm going to make a list of all the little things I love. I'm not even going to bother with the things I loathe. I need to accentuate the positive today. Too much negative lately.

Things I love

New red glasses. Who cares if they don't match with every outfit I have. I love them and I am going to wear them anyway. Seriously, I don't think I'll ever get lasik. I love wearing glasses.
$5 rotisserie chickens at the Wholesale Club. I so didn't feel like cooking dinner.
Breakfast at McKays.
Coffee and breakfast with my sister in law. I am so blessed to have her. (Yes, I ate breakfast twice today.)
A husband that will clean out the icky icky drain pump in the washer so it doesn't take 3 hours to wash a load of clothes.
Breakfast platters at Chick Fil A (that was on Monday, but it was delicious so I feel the need to mention it)
Good Charlotte (Don't laugh at me. I love them and they make me feel better when I'm sad.)

I think I am going to have a blister on the middle of my bottom lip due to an elbow macaroni accident. I was testing the noodles to see if they were done. Nothing worse than overcooked noodles, ya know? Fished one out of the pan, popped it in my mouth and out came a bunch of burning hot water. I also got the tip of my tongue. I think an injury like this needs some Ben and Jerry's New York Fudge Chunk.

Yard Work Sucks

Steve and I, being responsible mature adults, decided to use our kid-free time today to make the yard look less like a junk yard for children's outdoor toys and more like a decent house. I'm just surprised after all the work we do every Spring and Summer that Fall and Winter come blowing though (along with the kids) and destroy our yard.

We've tackled the unruly bushes in our front planter. Now I'm paying the price for not raking and trying to pull leaves out of the newly sprouted flowers. I'm sure I'll also have a wicked sunburn, as I spent the first 2 hours outside with no sunscreen, because I'm smart like that.

On the brightside, I can see the difference already and it makes me want to keep going. Well, after I finish this post, of course.

Meet "Black Aggie"

So I wanted to name her Maggie, but the kids didn't like it. We brainstormed and Victoria came up with "Black Aggie". She's named after my favorite childhood ghost story. You can read all about it here. Hopefully she doesn't end up giving me too much grief! (Steve's joke, not mine) Considering her shiny black exterior and that the Honda website describes the new Odyssey as "Aggressively Designed", I think "Black Aggie" is an awesome name.

Waking up late and having to take a cold shower due to poor shower scheduling
Messy kitchens
Homework time after school
Laundry
Reading Treasure Island outloud for hours (and summarizing) because of inadequate teaching
People who talk the talk, but don't walk the walk
Spending 5 1/2 hours of my Saturday in a car dealership

Things I love

A husband that keeps himself in shape for me
Breakfast and coffee with friends
My new shiny black minivan (I got to pick this one out all by myself!)
Naming my new shiny black minivan (Victoria gave it the best name a minivan has ever had)
87% dark chocolate
Breakfast by the pound at McKay's, a small local grocery store (french toast and scrapple for $.84, mmmmm)
My special mix CD Steve made, each song handpicked for me
Handwritten notes
Egg salad sandwiches
Clean kitchens
Seeing my teenagers studying together for an upcoming test
Driving with the moonroof open and my windows down
Baseball caps and ponytails when you don't have time to do your hair
Baby bunnies and baby cockatiels (not mine, but I got to look at them)
Reading funny cards and laughing with Victoria
Kids that not only can behave in a restaurant, but in a car dealership for 5 1/2 hours (Seriously, they deserve an award.)

So a telemarketer just called. I'm very nice to them, I just turn down whatever they are offering. We exchange the usual pleasantries...

"Hello, is Mr. or Mrs. P available?"

"This is Mrs. P."

"How are you today, Mrs. P?"

"I'm doing well. How are you?"

At this point she launches into exactly how she is...

"Well, I'm not really feeling well. I was feeling fine this morning and then all of a sudden I just started not feeling right, like I was coming down with something. I just can't seem to get over it."

I had to hold back from laughing, partly because it was so unexpected, partly because it's something I might actually do.

I managed to say, "Yeah, it's that time of year. Everyone's getting sick."

She then went into her spiel. I politely turned her down and told her I hoped she felt better soon. And I really meant it.

Other than TeamVox, who was the first person you added to your Vox neighborhood? What made you want to be their neighbor?

Well, I was invited to Vox by Mrs. Groovy and Brown Eyed Girl (who is no longer here) back when it was still invitation only. I'm not sure who I added first out of the two. I've known them both since around 2001 through another blogging site. I just wanted to be able to comment on their blogs. Then I got hooked on Vox and abandoned my old blog.

The first friends I added that I didn't already know were TechMusicGospel, Jamie, and HannahBanana. I'm not sure which order, but I know they were among the first.
