Not liking:
- Being sick. I've been sick for over a week now. Every time I think I'm done with it, it decides it can go another round. I'm sure Target is staying in business just from the amount of Theraflu and Tylenol Cold I've bought over the last couple of weeks. (Steve and Ashley were sick a week or so ago.)
Liking:
- My hair. I did have a couple of days where I was really regretting cutting it off. Then I just starting to think of all the things I didn't like about long hair. Couple that with finally pretty much having the styling part down now, and I'm loving it.
- NoiseTrade.com is awesome. Seriously, so much good free music. Just downloaded Alli Rogers. Never heard of her before today, but she's good.
- Allie Moss. Not only is her album awesome, but she actually answers Tori on Facebook. That makes Tori happy which makes me happy. She's just good people. I wish I had the time/money to go to the Ingrid Michaelson concert on Wednesday in Towson. I'd totally bring them all some Nutella goodies because they are all cool, but especially Allie.
- Wednesday night doctrine classes at church. It's just so good to dig down deep into the Bible.
- Hats and scarves. Seriously men, how do you deal with the cold neck thing? I know how I do, cute hats and scarves. I'm guessing you all don't care to run around in fuschia berets and flowered sparkly scarves, but it helps my cold neck.
- Steve. He's just wonderful and cute and I love him.
Perhaps if I updated more frequently, I wouldn't feel the need to write a "Reader's Digest Condensed Version" type blog post every week or two. Speaking of Reader's Digest Condensed Books, my mom had a bunch of those things. I probably ought to see if they condensed War and Peace. I still haven't conquered it. But I have read the first chapter twice.
So, for the first time this year, we went to a concert. I'd been wanting to go to one, it had been so long. Unless you consider the opera a concert, which I don't. It was Ingrid Michaelson. Tori, Steve, and I went. It was an awesome concert. Greg Holden was opening for her. He's English, from North of London. We got a lesson in the different ways someone from London would say "bloody" and someone from North of London would say it. Next time I go to England I'm going to go around forcing people to say "bloody" just so I can guess where they are from.
Anyway, Ingrid is one of Tori's favorite musicians, along with Allie Moss. Allie plays guitar for Ingrid while on tour. She's got some awesome solo stuff out there. So go buy Allie's stuff. We got lucky and saw Allie getting out of the tour bus while waiting outside for the doors to open. Steve told us go over and talk to her or we would regret it. Tori and I were all nervous, but went over anyway. She even remembered Tori from Facebook (they are friends somehow). So that was super cool. Allie is super sweet. Did I mention she's really talented and has some songs available on iTunes? Go check 'em out and buy 'em. You won't regret it. If you do, maybe I'll bake you something with Nutella to make you feel better. But trust me, you won't. She's indie/alternative/folksy, if you like that kind of stuff.
Speaking of concerts, we are going to see Derek Webb and Sandra McCracken on Saturday with Tori and Alex. And on Tuesday? U2! We sure are cramming a lot of concerts in after almost a year of nothing. In a couple of weeks, we are taking my parents to see Jersey Boys too. My mom is a huge Frankie Valli/Four Seasons fan. I think she'll love it.
In other news, because I can't stop talking about it. I have 18 jumbo jars of Nutella thanks to the fact that no one in Waldorf seems to want to buy it at our Costco and they are discontinuing it. They marked it down from $8.97 to $1.97 for a double pack. I love baking things with Nutella, but can't justify using a whole $4 jar most of the time. $1 jar? Yeah, I can do that. So I have a Nutella Swirl Pound Cake in the oven right now. I'm not sure I'll be able to leave it alone for the full 2 hour cooling time. I'm thinking warm with a slice of milk for my afternoon snack. I also plan on making Giada's chocolate hazelnut biscotti. And Bekki mentioned something about Nutella truffles, so hopefully she has a recipe for that and will share it. Having an abundance of Nutella is good because when Fall hits, the baking bug bites me and I can't seem to stay out of the kitchen.
My other current obsession now that it's Fall? Soup. So much soup that Steve has requested "real food". For me, soup is real food, but I suppose a handsome muscular man needs meat and such. I've made potato corn chowder, Maryland crab soup, garbanzo bacon, and French onion in the past week and a half. Ok, I suppose seeing it now in print, that is a lot of soup. Anyone care to share any of your favorite soup recipes? I'm sure Steve would appreciate it.
Ok, off to do my interval training on the treadmill. Then I won't feel so guilty when I slice myself up a huge piece of my pound cake this afternoon.
