I finished everything on the list except for the vacuuming. In my defense, I cleaned my bedroom, washed the sheets, scrubbed the floors and left a nice pile of clothes for Steve to put away at the bottom of the bed. Sadly, it seems I will end up putting them away myself as he is busy working on his latest installment of "Art Show Thursday". I posted my work of art earlier, the lasagna. Seriously, it was off the hook. We ate the entire pan minus one little square. Lucky for us, I made two pans so I wouldn't have to worry about making dinner tomorrow. Well, that's if I can stay out of it and not eat it for lunch instead.
Ok, I just realized my sunglasses are on top of my head. It's after 10pm and I'm sitting here curled up next to Steve. Guess I forgot to take them off at some point. Strangely, no one else in the house noticed. Ok, Steve's almost done his sketch so I must hand over the computer now.
Wash 2 loads of laundry
Fold 2 loads of laundry Bribe girls into folding a load of laundry each
Put away 2 loads of laundry* Make each child put his or her own clothes away
Make killer lasagna for Steve, per his request**
Vacuum living room, dining room, and den
Clean out Benjamin Bunny's cage
Put away the rest of the clothes that are still in the suitcase from our trip Move clothes from suitcase to chest at bottom of bed
Hang up clothes that are on the chest at bottom of bed Hope that Steve will hang up clothes that are on the chest at bottom of bed because he enjoyed my lasagna so much

*I list each of those separately, because if I list them together I might not get to check any off. The "putting away" is highly unlikely to happen. Well, let's be honest, so is the folding.
**He seems to think I have never made him lasagna, ever. Not so, but he wants lasagna and he's such a good husband, how could I not fill this simple request?
No time to blog today. No time to lay out by the pool either. It's time to get my lists ready, the clothes packed and clean. I actually feel refreshed and motivated today, so I'm running with it!
With the kids gone this weekend, Steve and I, ok, Steve decided to tackle cleaning out our screened in porch. It's right off our bedroom. This is my favorite place to chill out and relax, read, have a cup of coffee in the summer. It was filled up with junk from our bedroom makeover last fall.
Doesn't it look wonderfully relaxing? Nothing like opening up your curtains every morning to that lovely sight. My favorite thing adorning my beloved porch was the old sink top that had been here since the house was built in 1977.
Steve transformed it from that horrific state to this, in only an hour or two. In my defense, I did help him carry some of this stuff to the garage and I finished up our tile top table that we've been working. So I wasn't completely lazy.
Now, if anyone needs me, that's where I'll be the rest of the morning!
After two days of frenzied cleaning, my time is up. I have to leave to pick up my friends right after the kids hop on the bus. My goal this morning is just to keep the house looking decent while attempting to get five kids ready for school. Usually that leaves the house looking like a tornado went through it, but there is no time for straightening up after they leave today.
It sounds like the coffee is just about done. I need to get some caffeine in me before I fall back to sleep. I'll try to get a picture up for Art Show Thursday, but I can't guarantee it will be my art. Probably someone else's. Maybe I'll commission a drawing from Josiah. Ok, coffee's ready! I'm outta here!
And so is the fridge and microwave. I have scrubbed crevices and corners that I hadn't yet discovered since living here in my bathroom and fridge. The dirt I found hiding there can testify to that fact. It was like evicting a bunch of squatters. I found 'em and it was their time to go. I wiped dirty hand prints off of many surfaces. Ick. My kitchen sink is clogged for some reason. Steve is going to bring me some Draino. Hopefully that does the trick.
I also finished off the Ben and Jerry's Half Baked and opened up a new container of Oatmeal Cookie Chunk. I'd say I've been pretty productive so far. Now I'm off to clean out the rabbit cage and wash the hardwood floors by hand. Woohoo! I think I'm going to need more ice cream after that.
Or at least gets a nice jumpstart on getting the house clean! Steve carpooled today, which meant he had to get up early. He has flex hours and our bed is way too comfy (featherbed and a down comforter). We just have a hard time getting out of bed before we absolutely have to. We usually hit the snooze button for an hour or more. At least we set it early so we know we have good intentions of getting up, right? So anyway, I dragged myself out of bed to make him coffee and pack his lunch. By time all that was done, I was wide awake, ok, semi awake, but really what's the use of going back to bed for 20 minutes?
The pool boy almost has the pool looking crystal clear. I was skeptical about whether it would be ready for the weekend, but now I'm quite optimistic. It's funny, during the winter, I always get the itch to move, but come summer time, when that pool is open, I never want to leave. When I married Steve I wasn't so sure about having a house with a pool. I was really wondering why anyone would buy a house with a pool on purpose. Let me tell you, when it's the middle of summer and the kids are occupying themselves all day long in the pool, I'm ridiculously thankful. The upkeep isn't bad either once we do the initial clean up. Steve also planted all my petunias, so that's another thing knocked off the list that I needed to do today.
Ok, time to make sure Victoria and Alex are getting ready and get started around here. I have so much to do today and I am determined to get it all done!
I'm 3 days late with my usual grocery shopping. We are completely out of many things, including Oatmeal Cookie Chunk ice cream. I also have 3 of my friends coming into town on Thursday to stay with me, and they are bringing two kids a piece.
We all met 7 years ago on a ParentsPlace message board for mothers due in February 2000. We've been close friends ever since, meeting up every year or two. It's going to be one 4 day long slumber party, but I've got to get the house and yard looking decent.
Steve and I hadn't done a thing in the yard til this past Saturday, so let's just say I'm a little behind. We went to Lowe's to buy pool supplies and ended up buying flowers. We said we wouldn't, but I just can't resist. Now I have to get these pretty little wave petunias in the ground like yesterday. Plus I have to take Victoria to her band concert tonight, and then we have Awanas on Wednesday night, so that leaves little time for Steve and I to get our butts in gear. Although, I must confess, I always work best under pressure. I might be in a nasty mood, but I get it done. Lucky for me, Steve is one tolerant and good natured guy, putting up with the likes of me!
Ok, gotta get off here. I'll try and catch you all right after I'm done putting the frozen and refrigerated groceries away, but before I put away the dry goods.
Isn't it pathetic that all of that laundry was ready and waiting in my laundry room to set up that picture? Granted, it's all clean. I have issues with folding and putting away, not the actual washing. But yeah, that's my laundry. Guess now that I dragged it out into the open I ought to go fold it.
Or at least put it back in the laundry room....
