Yup, it's that time, license renewal. Once every four years you get an opportunity to attempt to achieve that allusive dream of a decent license picture. My last two weren't so bad. I actually ended up getting a new picture twice in the span of six months, due to getting married and moving. My only complaint was that my neck looked kinda thick in my last one. I even took a picture of my old license before I had to turn it in this morning to prove it to you all....
I really wanted to post 30 times this month, but I lost my blogging mojo sometime over the weekend. I'm tired of rambling on just to fill up space. And yet, here I am typing away.
Here, it's a post. It's Steve's birthday. I made crab cakes, pan-seared chicken seasoned with montreal steak seasoning, mashed potatoes, cornbread and chocolate cake. We also played RockBand 2. They forced me to sing. But I refuse to sing "More Than a Feeling". Any song but that one. Now we are going to watch the Office, because it's awesome. And tomorrow, tomorrow is my last day of subbing. Monday, I'm sleeping in til 6:30am.
I just can't remember it at this point. My brain is fried once 5 o'clock hits. I think of all this great stuff I want to say during the day, but can't remember a thing after 5. Maybe I ought to start getting up at 5am to blog. Although, I'm pretty out of it at 5am too. Oh well.
When you actually are working outside the home 8 hours a day. Trust me, I'm not discounting the stay at home moms, because I still am one. It's just for me, Friday has taken on a whole new meaning.
I had big plans for Monday. Yup, I was going to get up, get the kids to school, come home and totally kick butt cleaning up after a busy weekend. I was even going to reward myself with a nap for doing such a good job with the cleaning. Oh, and throw more stuff in the bread machine because a 2 lb weight gain and tight jeans just isn't enough to deter me from making more delicious yeast breads. (Seriously, cinnamon rolls with yeast dough vs. with bisquik, no contest!)
So yeah, I get home from dropping the kids off, pour myself another cup of coffee, grab my Bible study workbook (gotta keep up with the homework), and start to sit down. Think to self, better check Caller ID and make sure no one called while I was gone. See school number. Check voicemail. Find out a child left lunch in backseat. Rush through homework. Jump in shower. Make myself presentable. Leave to take child lunch (one hour roundtrip ride). Come back home. Start working on dishes. Make lunch for husband that is working from home. Phone call from my mom saying she's coming to the kids' soccer/volleyball games. Work harder on dishes so I can attempt to make the rest of the house halfway presentable. Realize I still need to make pizza dough for the calzones I'm planning for dinner. Throw ingredients in bread machine. Do more housework while chatting with a friend on the phone. Parents arrive. Take dough out of bread machine and pop it into the fridge so it doesn't rise and spill over while I'm gone. Run to school. Watch games. Come home. Start assembling calzones and heating up leftover corn chowder for dinner. Remind kids to do homework, repeatedly. Feed parents. Throw more stuff in bread machine for white bread so I can make sandwiches in the morning. Parents leave. Kids showering. Send them to bed. Move my cars (Parking Wars, of course). Rob a jewerly store (Mob Wars, of course). Attempt to catch up on my blogs, e-mail and message boards. Spit out a blog post. Realize I'm exhausted.
And now, I'm going to hit the "Save" button, put on some pajamas and go to bed. Well, maybe after a game of Tetris.....
My iGoogle page weather thingy says there it is currently thunderstorming, but it isn't. And here I trusted Google.
I made deer chops for dinner tonight. Very very yummy. I was a bit nervous after plopping down a chunk of my grocery money for processing a whole deer. Sure, someone had once given me ground deer and a deer tenderloin and I found those yummy. But what if I didn't like this deer meat? What if it wasn't processed well and ended up being gamey. Well, it isn't. Honestly, tasted like steak. If someone gave it to me and didn't tell me what it was, I would've guessed beef. So I'm happy. Although, I'm not sure what I am going to do with the "neck roast". Seriously, when they say "whole deer", they mean "whole deer".
I made homemade oven fries with rosemary, garlic, and kosher salt to go with the deer chops. Those were really yummy too. I think I need to go back to the store to get more potatoes while they are $3 for a 10lb bag.
I'm going to attempt to make my own bread and pizza crust. It's Jamie's fault. Although, I think I'll cheat and use a bread machine. I have all the stuff to make spinach alfredo pizza, so my crust better turn out.
Yeah, can you tell Autumn is here? I'm totally lazy all summer long. Once Autumn hits, I'm all about homemade goodies and treats. Speaking of which, I also made snack mix this afternoon. See, it's this stinking weather, just can't help myself!
Things I loathe:
- Being a procrastinator. I told my sister in law I would bring pumpkin muffins to her house tomorrow morning for our Bible study. Because I'm so great at procrastinating, I will be getting up super early to bake them. Go me!
- My stomach hurts. I don't know why. I wish it didn't.
- No one put their dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Sure I left it open and hoped everyone would take the hint. They didn't, so I have to load it up since they are all snug in their beds.
Things I love:
- The cooler weather. I love being able to throw on a sweatshirt in the morning. I love that it's cool enough to not have to run the AC, but warm enough to not start using the furnace yet.
- Steve working from home today.
- Podcasts. Yes, I'm still on a podcast binge. I did take a break on Friday to listen to some Death Cab.
- Josiah's take on the song "Paradise City". Thanks to Gary lending the kids some driving game for the PS3, I hear the chorus every time they turn it on. Josiah singing, "Take me down to Paradise City, where the grass is green and the girls aren't pretty" made the 100 times I've heard it the past week worth it. Because seriously, if the grass is green, who needs pretty girls, right?
Would you mind slowing down just a bit? I feel like I've been running full speed on a treadmill for several weeks now. Granted, it's been a good kind of busy the last week or so. Still, I'm tired and could use a pajama day. I miss pajama day. Thanks.
