I'm having a lot of fun with my new computer (whom I have named Oscar, just because). Yesterday, I installed iTunes and put our entire library on it. I burned myself a cd of a bunch of songs from the various mix cds Steve made me when we started dating. I hadn't really listened to "secular" music in almost 10 years, so I was a bit behind on music. (Don't ask.)
Anyway, while driving home from the store with Ashley and Alex and listening to my "new" cd, we were discussing how certain songs can bring you back to a particular time and place in your life.
"These songs remind of when I was dating your dad. It's like I can close my eyes and just be there. And like The Fray's album reminds me of last October when Mom-Mom died because it was the cd I listened to the most." I said.
Alex (13) pipes up like he totally gets what I'm trying to say, "Yeah, and like, I don't know why, but the word supper always makes me think of spaghetti."
Alrighty then. I was a good mom and didn't laugh til I told Steve later. Although, perhaps a good mom wouldn't blog about it.
Audio: What's your favorite carol or holiday song?
I can't really think of my favorite, there are so many. So I'll just post my two favorite Christmas songs from the 80s/90s.....
I must confess, I spent lots of time alone in my bedroom practicing my English accent in hopes that the day I turned 18, George Michael would take notice of me and marry me. As for New Kids on the Block, I'm thinking there are a bunch of you out there that would confess to having their posters plastered on your walls. I must say, I don't remember them being as bad as they are in this video and the others I watched on youtube. I'm pretty sure I stayed up late just to catch them on that very "Arsenio Hall Show". Heh.
Music-wise, what was the first 45, single or download you bought?

Abracadabra by the Steve Miller Band. I was five and my mom took me to the record store at Glen Burnie Mall. I was so excited to have my own record, just like my big sisters.
I know it's been around for awhile, but it's a good song. Although, I could do without the screamo part.

I love it when I find an album that I love and the preteens love too. My brother in law used two of the songs from this album during our worship time before Middle School ministry on Wednesday night.
I just bought it on iTunes, getting ready to load up some good decent music to their iPods. So nice to not have to fight them over music. Well, except who gets to upload this to their iPod first, lol.
