Sleep in.(11:40am counts as sleeping in,right?)Drink a pot of coffee by myself.(This is completely normal, right?)Clean up kitchen and realize maybe the kids aren't to blame for the house being messy all the time.(In my defense, I haven't really been home that much since Thursday.)Wash some clothes. (As much as I would like to ignore the laundry during my "vacation", I'm pretty sure I heard Steve say something about using his last pair of clean underwear this morning. Although, it was before 7am, and I was still half asleep. Either way, the hamper was full, so I figured it was better not to take chances.)Plan healthy dinner after 4 days of riduculously fattening food that has resulted in several pairs of pants being too tight.(There are plenty of places I need to gain weight but my backside isn't one of them.)Spend several hours on the phone with friends I haven't talked to in awhile.- Lay in hammock and start reading "Wicked" (thanks to Kelly lending it to me!)
- Make healthy dinner. (Sure I'm planning on making a healthy dinner, but carry out is just so easy)
- Curl up on the couch with Steve and watch an episode or two of Scrubs.
- Go to bed. (Have I mentioned how much I love my bed? It's awesome. Featherbed, down comforter, it's like sleeping on a cloud. Hmm, maybe I need to add a nap to my "to do" list...)
Ok, so I was completely stuffed after dinner and my dessert, but then Nicole and Rob requested I whip up some more of my famous guacamole. Since they are like my guests and all, I had to make some more. Then of course, I had to taste it for quality control purposes and all. Let me just say, once again I totally rocked the guac again. I really do make some good guacamole. It's my version of a guac I had in a little Mexican restaurant right off Times Square in NYC.
Anyway, I ate too much. So, to get them back for making me eat so much my tummy hurts, I got them hooked on Scrubs. The first thing Rob said after the first episode was the exact thing Steve said, "One more?". Four episodes later we are finally making ourselves stop and go to bed. They are going to take it with them to finish watching and mail it back for us. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them the 2nd time around. Good show.
I know, it's ridiculous, but I'm so happy that I have a bunch of Scrubs to catch up on this summer with Steve. We need something to do during this TV dry spell that is called Summer. It's like the TV executives expect us to go outside and do things during the warm months. Seriously.
I'm thinking instead of driving up north to Canada for our kid-free vacation this year, we'll just stay home and eat guacamole and watch Scrubs. Sounds like a plan to me.
So we started watching the first season of Scrubs last night. We were going to watch just one and go to bed early for the first time since, oh, Septemberish, but one wasn't enough. I wanted to watch a third, but I want to pace myself. I don't want to be out of shows before the summer even starts.
Anyway, we love it. We were laughing so hard. I'm so glad I never started watching it. I remember catching an episode when it first came on, and loving it, but with 3 kids and no DVR, I just never seemed to catch it when it was on. Total bonus for us, because now we have something to watch during the summer TV break.
It's kinda weird, not only are all our TV shows on hiatus, but we don't have Wednesday Night Kids programs in the summer, so it's kinda quiet. That's ok, there is always yardwork. Been doing plenty of that. Spent yesterday weeding and hauling wheelbarrows full of mulch to the backyard. Steve bought a bunch, and it's on the street near our house. Good exercise. I'm going to have nice beefy arms by the end of the summer.
We have a busy weekend ahead of us. Have to finish up getting the yard all spiffy since my sister, Nicole, and her family are coming to stay tomorrow night. It's her birthday, so I am making Maryland Crab Cakes per her request. Sunday after church the rest of my family is coming for a cookout, along with most of Steve's family. Some friends are coming too. Luckily we'll be chilling outside on the deck or by the pool. I think we have at least 20 kids total expected, including my 5. So yeah, craziness all around. But there will be lots of food, so that is really what counts. And poker, the men will be playing poker of course.
If I don't have a chance to check in (heh, me not check in on Vox, yeah right), have a great holiday weekend!
Well, the tv season has come to a close for Steve and I. All of our shows are done for the season. We did rent the first season of Scrubs from Netflix. It's one of those shows that we missed out on, but every time we catch a snippet, we find ourselves laughing hysterically. I'll probably set the DVR to tape old Seinfeld episodes too. We really enjoy that show. Of course, there is always the plethora of Rachael Ray shows that I tape. I just love her, she is so down to earth. So yeah, I'm off to do yardwork, perhaps jump in the pool if I get hot enough.
That after being gone for a week, my husband would want to spend time with me....but noooooo, he's off at a basketball game with his brothers.
Ok, actually, I told Steve to go. I like that Steve is close with his family. His youngest brother got these tickets a few days back and wanted to take his brothers. Steve wanted to stay home. He claims actually enjoys spending time with me. I think if he keeps saying, he might actually believe it one day. Who am I kidding, I might believe it one day. Anyway, all kidding aside, he didn't want to be the wet blanket on the whole "brother" outing, so he went. I think he'll end up enjoying himself.
Me, I'm home eating kettle corn and sushi, washing it down with hot green tea and watching Scrubs. Why in the world did I not keep watching this show? That's ok, now we have something to watch in the summer. I figure we'll rent it and work our way through the seasons instead of watching Seinfield reruns every night. I do enjoy Zach Braff's humor and wit. I loved Garden State and I added The Last Kiss to our Netflix queue. I also added Donnie Darko. I don't know, it's just always intrigued me. Steve and I have been going with our gut instincts on our queue and we haven't have a movie we didn't like so far. Our movie tastes are very similar, so we are lucky that way.
Seriously, this show is cracking me up. I'm feeling like maybe I should stop watching and save this for when Steve and I can watch it together. I think he'll really like it. Nah, I'll keep watching. I think this show will be like The Office, always funnier the second or third or fourth time around. Yeah, sure, I'm just going to keep watching.
