Things I loathe:

Getting tired at 9pm

Lack of warm blankets in the hotel room

Leaving my water in the van

Being thirsty

Things I love:

Being able to go on Steve's business trip

Spending time with Steve

Country Fried Chicken dinner with okra, dumplings, and turnip greens

Free breakfast

Free wireless internet

sleep

I have such a love/hate relationship with that dumb button on my alarm clock. Sure it lets me get a bit more sleep, but it also makes me 9 minutes later than I wanted to be in the first place. Maybe I wouldn't be tempted to stay in bed longer if I didn't have a warm snuggly husband next to me. I think I'll give him a good push out of bed tomorrow morning to see if that helps.

Speaking of alarm clocks, the kids have discovered them. Victoria bought one awhile back, no big deal. Now the younger kids have discovered that their Nintendo DSs have alarm clocks. Kinda cool on school days, having them wake themselves up. Not so cool on the weekends when one child sets it for 6am and decides everyone else needs to get up with them.

Love it or hate it, many of you lost an hour of sleep last night due to Daylight Saving Time? Worth It? Do you like it more/less now that Daylight Saving Time occurs earlier (and later) in the year?

I love having more daylight. I hate feeling like crap because my body thinks it got up at 4am even though the clock said 5am. I've had 3 cups of coffee this morning, a cup of green tea, a glass of Emergen-C, and a bowl of Total all in a vain effort to get some energy.

It's also frustrating because the younger kids tend to go to bed later because they have a hard time going to sleep when it's still light out. Although they tend to play outside more, so that's a good thing. They get all their energy out and aren't inside bouncing off the walls and running down the hallway. They were feeling the effects of the time change this morning. I could tell they were dragging this morning, but their attitudes were good for the most part.

Hmm, I woke up this morning with Steve. I finally remembered to buy coffee and bread. I was avoiding going grocery shopping since we are all leaving this week. So I got up and made him coffee and his lunch. Now I've been up since 6:30am. I've had a cup of coffee. Should I stay up, or should I go lay back down for an hour or two til the kids get up? Such a hard decision. It's so peaceful and quiet right now. This house hasn't been this peaceful upon my waking since the kids were let out of school for the summer. I think I'll grab my bible, head out back and enjoy some quiet moments.

6:45am, I am sound asleep dreaming happily, fifteen more minutes til I have to get up. Actually, I don't think I was dreaming at all, but I was asleep. I wake up with the feeling that any second my leg is going to cramp up. I lay there for all of 5 seconds wishing, hoping, praying it doesn't. Oh, but it does. My leg is throbbing from the excruciating pain. It subsides rather quickly. I am left wide awake with a sore leg.

What a way to start a morning! I'll be back in a bit with my ugly outfit. Then I'm off to Field Day at the 3 youngest kids' school. It's going to be a 90 degree day. Good thing my ugly outfit is nice and cool.

Over a week of not getting more than 7 hours sleep has finally caught up to me. I was just plain exhausted today, I just had to do it. I hate it, but I had to. My limbs felt like they weighed a ton, and I could barely keep my eyes open. I kept drinking tea and nibbling, hoping something anything besides sleep would give me my energy back. Finally, I gave up. I grabbed my favorite red quilt and laid down on the couch. I woke up almost 2 hours later feeling so much better. As much as I hate to nap during the day, sometimes you just have to. And today was one of those days.
