This was a conversation that took place yesterday before I went to get my hair chopped off.

Me: "I think I'll just go ahead and make a return appointment with Amy to keep up the new style. And then if you hate

it I'll just call back and cancel."

Steve: "Your face is what's hot, so your hair really can't hurt the hotness."

Me: "I don't know about that."

Steve: "You'll be hot regardless. Smok'n even. Tabasco wishes it knew the recipe to your hotness."

Me: "Is there something you want from me? ;-)"

Steve: "Just to let me continue to be in the presence of your hotness forever."

"Question."

Me: "Yes?"

Steve: "Janie and a gasoline soaked rag are thrown in a fire. Which catches fire first?"

"Trick question. Janie is already on fire."

"Do you set off the fire alarm when you go places? Because you are smok'n."

"I don't even know where these cheesy pick up lines are coming from. I should write a book."

Steve is actually blogging again. I think we have both realized the value of actually blogging and writing down all these things that happen in our lives. Sure, Twitter and Facebook are fun, but there's nothing like reading through all your old blog posts and reminiscing. So go check him out. He's promised he's not going to be a slacker anymore.

I've said, "God is so good" a lot the last couple of days in regards to Steve's accident and the fact that he survived relatively unscathed. I was thinking about this yesterday. I really hope and pray that even if God had chosen that Thursday was Steve's time to go, if God had chosen that Steve would be seriously hurt and that his injury may have affected the rest of his life, I could've said the same thing. Because He is. No matter what.

Steve is alive. And considering I thought there was a good possibility he was dead for at least a minute, I am very thankful he is alive. The car is totaled, but he is home and just very sore. I'll blog about it later, but for now. I just want to sit here next to my husband and enjoy the Taco Bell we bought to calm our nerves.

Currently loving Noise Trade. I've downloaded at least 10 albums or partial albums in the past couple of days. My current favorite is an acoustic album from Katie Herzig. It's an acoustic album of some of her stuff. I'd never heard of her before I downloaded this last week, but I'm hooked. Best thing about Noise Trade, you can either recommend the album to 5 friends or donate whatever you want. I love sharing music, so I've been inundating all my friends with suggestions lately. Well, my friends that I know love music like I do.

Speaking of music, Tori is really working hard at teaching herself the guitar. Most days, she walks around the house practicing her strumming or finger picking. It's like having a soundtrack to my everyday life, which can be nice. Sometimes, when I'm trying to think and she's right behind me, I have to ask her to give it a break.

Somewhere North

Alex has been working diligently on learning Portuguese (thanks to a cute Brazilian girl at his school) and honing his drawing skills. After Saturday's visit to the Smithsonian American Art Museum, he's beginning to realize just about anything can be art and maybe he shouldn't be so hard on himself. One of my favorite things he said on Saturday, "I could make that in our garage!" He also is responsible for my favorite picture from Saturday. He's got an eye for art just like his dad.

I can't believe Alex is going to be 15 in a few short weeks. Although, I kinda can when I look at that picture. He looks so much older and like his dad all the time. I don't feel old enough to be the mom of a 15 year old, but I will be and very soon. Kinda scary. Only 3 years til he's an "adult". I don't know that I'll ever feel like he's an adult. I think I'll always worry about him, and the rest of the kids. They'll always be my babies.

Baking The Mondays Away

I've been so busy lately I've barely had a moment to bake. My family is so used to having homemade goodies around the house. Poor Steve asked what I had for dessert last night and all I had to offer him was some Mini Oreos.

So I'm making up for it today. I've already baked a pan of Butterscotch Blondies. I have a loaf of Sweet Potato Yeast Bread in the bread machine and I just pulled a pan of Nutella Brownies out of the oven. I have no clue what I'm making for dinner, but I definitely have dessert covered!
