Not liking:
- Being sick. I've been sick for over a week now. Every time I think I'm done with it, it decides it can go another round. I'm sure Target is staying in business just from the amount of Theraflu and Tylenol Cold I've bought over the last couple of weeks. (Steve and Ashley were sick a week or so ago.)
- My hair. I did have a couple of days where I was really regretting cutting it off. Then I just starting to think of all the things I didn't like about long hair. Couple that with finally pretty much having the styling part down now, and I'm loving it.
- NoiseTrade.com is awesome. Seriously, so much good free music. Just downloaded Alli Rogers. Never heard of her before today, but she's good.
- Allie Moss. Not only is her album awesome, but she actually answers Tori on Facebook. That makes Tori happy which makes me happy. She's just good people. I wish I had the time/money to go to the Ingrid Michaelson concert on Wednesday in Towson. I'd totally bring them all some Nutella goodies because they are all cool, but especially Allie.
- Wednesday night doctrine classes at church. It's just so good to dig down deep into the Bible.
- Hats and scarves. Seriously men, how do you deal with the cold neck thing? I know how I do, cute hats and scarves. I'm guessing you all don't care to run around in fuschia berets and flowered sparkly scarves, but it helps my cold neck.
- Steve. He's just wonderful and cute and I love him.
Dewitte said we get points for posting. So I'm posting. I want my points. Why didn't anyone tell me about the points?
- Packing, cleaning, and stuff for Spring Break. Alex and Ash are going to North Carolina. The rest of us are going to Nicole's house for the weekend. I hear someone is going over the hill this weekend, so we are going to celebrate.
- The yard. Yeah, we didn't do so hot last year on that yardwork stuff. So there's a lot to be done.
- Steve. Yup, he's on the list again.
- Chicken Bog
- Going to Nicole's
- Warmer weather
- Sour Cream Pound Cake
- Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Raisin Cookies (I sense a theme here.)
- Joshua Radin's latest CD
Well, it seems our house is finally done with the stomach bug. Ashley and Victoria narrowly escaped. They both have horrible colds, so I suppose it's not like they got off completely. Onto "Things On Tuesday"...
- The stomach bug. It was horrible and I didn't even throw up. Everyone else did. It's because I have my mother's immunity to getting completely sick. Mom's are really allowed to get sick anyway.
- The rain. Rain is ok. Cold and rainy, I'm just not liking it. Well, unless I can just stay home in my pajamas all day and whip up a big pot of soup. But I couldn't, so I'm not liking it.
- Steve has to work. Seriously, why can't he just be by my side all the time? I enjoy his company and miss him when he's gone. After a 3 day weekend, going back to regular life without him is hard.
- Dinner. I totally forgot how to make this weird thing I whip up from time to time. It has smoked sausage, onions, tomatoes and noodles. I usually toss it with some butter and garlic and parmesan cheese but today I put milk in it and well, it was edible.
- The stomach bug has left the building. Sure we're all kinda achy and still a little nauseous at times, but overall, it's a huge improvement.
- Christmas shopping. I found Steve, Sophie, and Josiah pajamas and they were cheap. There are some ridiculous deals out there right now.
- It's almost Christmas break. I am one day closer to 2 weeks of sleeping in. Ok, I won't be sleeping in on Christmas but Christmas is exciting and wonderful and I can hardly sleep myself.
- New York City. I made it and felt pretty ok. Sure it wasn't the trip I imagined, but Steve was with me, so that makes anything better.
- Steve is almost home. It's almost time to curl up on the couch and snuggle for the remainder of the night.
- New jeans for the first time in over 2 years. I finally found a pair I like. It's not that I haven't been looking. I have. It's hard to find a good pair of jeans.
- New sweaters. I hate being cold. I snagged a couple of cute sweaters for a steal at Gap (is it Gap or The Gap?) this weekend. Plus I got some long sleeve layering tees. Sweater + layering tee= warmth! Added bonus, they are really cute.
- Chinchillas that finally like each other. Sure it took almost 2 years, but they've been having evening playtime together and aren't just tolerating each other. They are liking each other. Grooming each other, playing together. I'm hoping to be able to put them in a cage together soon. And maybe chinchilla babies one day, but I'm not getting my hopes up. My rabbits never had babies after 2 years together. I'm just glad they are getting along.
- Finding old friends on Facebook. Although, I kinda worry what kind of dirt they might have on me. I've blocked out a lot of my childhood weirdness. My sisters are usually good at reminding me of some things, but these friends could have more stuff.
- Pajamas. I don't know who invented them, but they are awesome. I'm going to go change out of my clothes and these high heeled boots into my comfy pjs!
Yes, I'm 33 today. It's been a regular old day for the most part. Well, except for the ridiculous amount of birthday wishes on my facebook wall. I love facebook for the fact that it reminds me of all the birthdays I would forget otherwise. So, enough with the rambling, here are my things.....
- Stomach viruses running rampant at the school. My current perfume is Lysol. Seriously, I sprayed and cleaned the nursery so many times today. My hands are raw from overwashing. The best part, 10 minutes before the bell rang, the 3 year old got sick.
- Steve isn't home yet. And I miss him.
- Sure, the 3 year old threw up, but I was able to grab a bucket in time! Go me!
- Steve is late because he's buying me a chocolate cake.
- Steve and I are going to NYC this weekend for some shopping and sightseeing. It's our Christmas gift to each other.
- Waffle fries.
- Newton Faulkner. He opened for the Ingrid Michaelson concert the other week, and he's so good!
- The Killers' new cd. Very good. Hard to choose whether to listen to The Killers, Newton Faulkner or Christmas music whenever I get into the car.
- I've been under 130 lbs for almost 6 years now. Seriously, I used to be the "heavy" one in my family. I finally bit the bullet and lowered my weight on my license from 135* to 115. I was always too paranoid to do it. I may regret doing this after the holidays.
- Facebook. It's so great to be able to pretty much keep in touch with my family and friends all in one place, no matter where they call home now. Although, my cousins and I all need a girls' night out soon!
- Victoria is teaching herself to play the guitar. She wants me to sing this particular song, Grace Upon Grace, for church while she plays. How cool is that? I never imagined she and I would ever do something like that. She's almost got it down.
Then it's back to my life as a stay at home mom. Just the extra 45 minutes sleep in the morning is going to feel like a luxury. I might celebrate by driving the kids to school in my pajamas. With my luck, the teacher I'm subbing for wouldn't make it back and the principal would run out to ask me to fill in. Heh.
- Potty training. Seriously, I don't remember it being this hard. But the 3 yr old boy did go 4 times today, so I'm not doing so bad.
- Stinking cold coming on. I hope this is as bad as it gets. I just wanted to lay down in the middle of class and go to sleep today.
- Cold weather. Seriously cold weather. I can't take the kids out to the playground in this. They are so antsy. I'm going to scour the bookshelves to see if I have anymore books that might keep them busy.
- I'm at my highest weight in 2 years. I can't seem to get the scale to stay put. It's not even Thanksgiving yet! Ugh.
- Sure, I say this every week, but Steve is just awesome and I love him. Last night, he stopped on the way to the store to pick me up fresh basil and fancy cheese for my soup. And he never complains. He's so good.
- Just 3 more days. It's going to be weird after a month of "working" but I'll glad to be going back to my old life.
- Delicious soup, need I say more?
- "The Pursuit of Holiness" by Jerry Bridges. Seriously, this book is just so awesome. Sure it's kicking my butt, but it's a good kind of buttkicking. The kind every Christian needs.
- Upcoming concerts. We're going to see Ingrid Michaelson next Tuesday. We almost bought tickets to go see "They Might Be Giants" perform their album, "Flood" in it's entirety next Friday, but we have company in town all weekend. I think we are also going to go see Griffin House in a week or so.
- Cookies. Although, this might be the reason for the last thing I loathe.
- Thanksgiving. Sure it's going to be a lot of working, having it here, but it's so worth being surrounded by my family.
Loathe:
- Changing diapers. Seriously, 4 poopy ones again today!
- Getting up super early. I have to get up at 5:30am to be ready in time. It stinks.
- Cold rainy days
- Gary making his way to every stinking leaderboard on Tetris for Facebook.
- Spending my day playing with toddlers. It's ridiculously fun. Today, we spent most of the day on the picnic blanket I brought reading books and playing with a toddler version of "Barrel Full of Monkeys". And during naptime I spend my time reading. I don't even have to feel guilty about ignoring laundry or the dishes.
- No lines at the polls tonight. Steve and I got there around 6pm and it was like a ghost town.
- 3 out of 5 kids made the honor roll this quarter. One even had straight As. That one takes after me. ;-)
- Passing up Hannah on Tetris Sprint. Now I just have to go back and try and pass her up on Tetris Marathon again.
- Husbands that buy me microwave popcorn. I keep forgetting every time I go grocery shopping and have been whining about wanting some. Sure, he paid 3 times as much as I would because he got it at the convenience store, but I have it and that's what really matters.
- The smell of pocorn.
Loathe
- The heat isn't working. We haven't had a spare moment to try and figure it out. I'm pretty sure this happens every fall, we rack our brains, remember what the magic trick is to get it working and everything is ducky. I told myself I wasn't going to turn it on til November anyway. How's that for irony?
- Liars. Just say you didn't do it. Don't lie about it and say you did because no one can prove otherwise. Ya know? Even worse when you lie to my children.
- Windows Vista
- Steve. He's just awesome. Marriage can be an awful thing or an awesome thing depending on the approach you and your spouse take. Sure, it's hard to not be selfish and have a servant's heart toward each other. But when you both do, it's the best thing ever. That's where we are. Things aren't perfect, but pretty close. And he's hot. That always helps a marriage.
- Computers that actually work. The monitor on Steve's work laptop went kaput while he was in Tampa. It's still covered under warranty, so it'll get fixed. In the mean time, he bought a new "home" laptop. It's awesome because mine was acting all crazy thanks Vista. So, I'm using this one and he'll install XP on mine sometime this week.
- Podcasts. Mark Driscoll's podcasts on the Song Of Songs have just been awesome. Sure, it's hard to listen to sometimes. It's convicting, but it's truth and it's helping my marriage immensely. I thought I had an awesome marriage before, but now? Spectacular!
- Pears. I'm down to the last dozen. They have been such a blessing. They saved me money. They were tasty.
- My cold bedroom. In the summer, it's so stinking hot in our bedroom. I find myself on the opposite side of the bed with too much space in between Steve and I. But in the winter, the nights are spent tangled up together keeping each other warm and I love it. Makes it hard to get out of bed in the morning. I'm really looking forward to Saturday when we can sleep in.
- Good friends. I had time to talk to some friends this past week, some for hours! It's just good to have good friends.
- I loathe running around like a maniac cleaning.
- I love having Bible Study here at the last minute because otherwise it would've just been cancelled and I'm really wanted to talk about grace this week.
- I loathe not having a babysitter until the last minute.
- I love that Gary is such an awesome brother in law that he would not only agree to watch the kids for the Mason Jennings concert tomorrow night but my cousin's wedding on Saturday. Seriously, girls, he's single, cute, likes kids and can cook.
- I loathe overflowing bread machines and the clean up following.
- I love homemade bread and cinnamon rolls.
- I loathe Rock Band's drums AND guitar not working less than a year after purchasing.
- I love belting out Troublemaker by Weezer because, hey, at least the microphone works!
- I loathe misunderstandings between Steve and I
- I love sweet e-mails following the misunderstandings.
That's it for now. It's been a long day and I'm ready to watch Heroes, Fringe, then go to bed. Oh, and Chuck rocked last night. Now that's it.
Things I loathe:
- Being a procrastinator. I told my sister in law I would bring pumpkin muffins to her house tomorrow morning for our Bible study. Because I'm so great at procrastinating, I will be getting up super early to bake them. Go me!
- My stomach hurts. I don't know why. I wish it didn't.
- No one put their dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Sure I left it open and hoped everyone would take the hint. They didn't, so I have to load it up since they are all snug in their beds.
Things I love:
- The cooler weather. I love being able to throw on a sweatshirt in the morning. I love that it's cool enough to not have to run the AC, but warm enough to not start using the furnace yet.
- Steve working from home today.
- Podcasts. Yes, I'm still on a podcast binge. I did take a break on Friday to listen to some Death Cab.
- Josiah's take on the song "Paradise City". Thanks to Gary lending the kids some driving game for the PS3, I hear the chorus every time they turn it on. Josiah singing, "Take me down to Paradise City, where the grass is green and the girls aren't pretty" made the 100 times I've heard it the past week worth it. Because seriously, if the grass is green, who needs pretty girls, right?
Things I loathe:
- Being perpetually tired. I'm only 32. I can't imagine how I'm going to feel when I'm 50!
- Being so busy that I can't seem to keep my house straight for more than an hour at a time.
- My iPhone reverts back to my home page when a Vox page is almost done loading.
- Did I mention the busyness? Really, I feel like I don't have time to breathe lately.
Things I love:
- Meeting more Voxers! Especially since sitting down and having lunch with Steph and Jim was like sitting down with old friends. They are just really great people. And Steph was just adorable and pregnant. Seriously, why do all you Voxers have to live so far away? I always come away from meeting up with people thinking about how I could see myself hanging out with them on a regular basis if only they lived nearby. That said, the DC area is an awesome place to live. So move here. C'mon, you know you wanna!
- Still loving my iPhone. I'll upload the software update today and that should fix the few things that it has issues with. Despite those few things, it still rocks.
- My mother has a blog. Although, she has no clue as to how to find it. It's a diet blog through some calorie counting website. It just cracks me up because my mother is oh, a tad bit technologically challenged.
- Steve's iPod. I've stolen it so I can listen to some Mark Driscoll podcasts. Seriously, I don't know if I'm going to want to give it back. I guess I could upload podcasts to my phone and give it back. But it's just so much easier to take this. Although now I'd like to take a look around the iTunes store and see what else I can find that's really good.
